ICC Considers Limiting Test Teams After 2027

The ICC is planning changes to Test cricket after 2027, possibly allowing only a few top teams to play the format. This comes as some teams face financial losses from hosting Test matches.

During recent meetings, the idea of splitting teams into two divisions was also discussed to improve competition and manage costs better.

 

Test cricket, played since 1877, is the oldest and most respected format. But with T20 and ODI formats becoming more popular, the ICC is exploring ways to protect and promote Test cricket for future generations.
