New Technology Can Make Water and Fuel from Moon Soil
Chinese scientists have made a special machine that can turn moon soil into water, oxygen, and fuel using sunlight.

They tested this using real moon soil that was brought back to Earth by China’s space mission called Chang’e 5.
For a long time, experts believed the moon’s soil, also called regolith, had water in it. But the old ways to get water or fuel from that soil needed too much energy and were very hard to use. That made them unhelpful for future space stations or colonies on the moon.
Now, a team led by Lo Wang from the Chinese University of Hong Kong has made a solar-powered reactor. This means it works using sunlight. The machine can use the sunlight and carbon dioxide that astronauts breathe out to make useful things like water, oxygen, and even fuel from the moon soil.
This new discovery could help astronauts live on the moon for a longer time by using what is already there, instead of bringing everything from Earth.
